Rules for the Election
Benjamin BrumleyDepartment: Ed Foundations and Policy Studies For the past seven years, I have proudly represented the Department of Educational Foundations and Policy Studies at the APSCUF DRC. In the 2023–2024 academic year, I accepted an invitation to serve as Co-Chair of the APSCUF Committee on Adjunct Faculty and actively participated in WCU-APSCUF Executive Committee meetings. I continue to serve in this role for the 2024–2025 academic year. As Adjunct Committee Co-Chair, I helped co-sponsor the Pay Equity Working Group alongside the Social Justice Committee and spearheaded several initiatives to support adjunct faculty at WCU. In addition, I represent WCU adjunct faculty on the state-level APSCUF committee. I am eager to serve as Treasurer for our APSCUF chapter. I will advocate for the transparent and responsible management of our chapter’s funds, and my experience on the WCU-APSCUF Executive Committee has reinforced my deep commitment to our union in these difficult times. In solidarity, Ben Michael MalcolmDepartment: Economics & Finance I am currently serving as our treasurer and am seeking your support for another term. I served in a variety of roles with APSCUF prior to becoming treasurer, including on the state APSCUF budget committee (two terms), statewide Meet and Discuss (two years), state delegate (nine years), and the PASSHE university success task group. I have always seen this work as a two-way process -- Advocating for my colleagues and for the university as well as bringing information from our union back to them. As treasurer, I am committed to transparency and to responsible management of our financial resources. Major initiatives I have undertaken over the last two years include: (1) Modernizing our workflow, especially with respect to invoicing and payments (2) Bringing to a final resolution several outstanding bookkeeping issues that had been lingering for many years (3) Enhancing lines of communication with campus offices we frequently interface with, particularly financial aid and the bursar's office If elected to another term, I will continue work on (3), and build on these relationships even further to include state-level offices. Another issue I would like to address in collaboration with APSCUF leadership is that our various budgetary processes (e.g., audits at the state and local level) operate on different timelines. Streamlining these processes would enhance transparency and would make it easier for us to allocate our financial resources in the way that best serves the organization's goals. I have always been committed to organized labor, starting with participating in a job action during my days as a grad student at UW-Madison and some research early in my career on bargaining processes; being an economist provides a useful perspective on this job! Finally, the School of Business has been historically underrepresented in APSCUF leadership, and I value serving as a liaison in both directions. I would appreciate your support for a second term.
