Department: Educational Foundations & Policy Studies

I am excited to be running for the position of Vice President of APSCUF-WCU. I first joined APSCUF as an adjunct faculty member in 2012, with little understanding of what it meant to be in a union. It wasn't until I was hired as an Assistant Professor and got involved in the APSCUF Social Justice Committee (SJC) that I began to understand the important impact that union work could have. In my time as co-chair of the SJC, we recruited new members, identified issues experienced by faculty, and pursued long-term, structural solutions to those issues, a practice that continues to this day under the leadership of Drs. Justin Sprague & Liam Lair.

In 2021 I was elected to the position of Recording Secretary, where I am currently completing my second term. In this role, I have gained valuable experience in WCU shared governance, interfacing weekly with leaders in faculty senate, offices across campus, and our university administration. Throughout this time I have committed myself to being an advocate for faculty, bringing the perspectives of members, particularly marginalized members who might not feel fully supported, to the union and the university. It is with this commitment in mind that I now pursue the position of Vice President, where I will continue to be a voice for faculty and promote a union culture that is transparent, active, and member-driven.

Thank you for your vote! I look forward to representing you in APSCUF!
