Department: Nursing

I am interested in being the CAPC At-large representative. During my time at WCU, I have worked on our department's curriculum committee, where I collaborated with my peers to ensure that our course offerings met both University and department academic standards. Department: Languages and Cultures

I would like to be reelected to serve at CAPC to continue my work in the General Education Committee, where I have served since I was elected. Patricia Davidson

Department: Nutrition

My name is Patricia Davidson, and I am a Professor in the Nutrition Department. I have had the privilege of serving on CAPC as an appointed proxy for a member unable to fulfill their term and am currently serving as an At-large representative. In this role, I have been a member of the Program Review Subcommittee and the Academic Review Committee, where I am currently the chair. I have served on the departmental Curriculum Committee for both the undergraduate and graduate programs. My work has included developing new courses, transitioning traditional courses to hybrid formats, and creating several online courses for the undergraduate level and the Master of Science in Community Nutrition program. I also chaired the accreditation process for the Dietetic Internship program. In addition, I am an active member of CELT and the Provost-initiated University Writing Council. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the importance of quality educational programs and the policies that support departmental accreditation standards. I am committed to maintaining and enhancing our high educational standards.

I would be honored to continue my service on CAPC and uphold the educational standards and policies at WCU. I respectfully seek your vote for my candidacy as an elected At-large representative of CAPC

Anne Larrivee

Department: Libraries

As the Collections Strategist Librarian here at WCU, I believe that staying aware of updates and changes to the curriculum is an essential part of my job. Being part of the Curriculum and Academic Policies Council will give me a connection between how our library collections can respond to the needs of the new academic content and policies. Also, I enjoy revising documents and drafting policy.

Carlos A. Morales-Ramirez

Department: Geography and Planning

I want to express my strong interest in serving as an At-Large Representative for the Curriculum and Academic Policies Council (CAPC) at West Chester University. With my extensive academic background in Geography, my diverse teaching experience, and my ongoing doctoral studies in Curriculum and Instruction, I believe I am well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to the university's curriculum development and academic policy decisions.

I hold an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (expected May 2025) and a Ph.D. in Geography, alongside multiple graduate and undergraduate degrees in Geography Education. I have a deep understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of curriculum development, as well as the challenges faculty and students face in an ever-evolving academic environment.

Throughout my career, I have emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary teaching, curriculum flexibility, and the integration of technology in the classroom. I have taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses, from Human Geography to Environmental Crises and Sustainable Living, both in-person and online. My academic research, including peer-reviewed publications on geography education and spatial thinking, has always focused on improving the way we teach and learn geography in higher education. This aligns well with CAPC’s mission to oversee and advise on curriculum development and academic policies that ensure the best educational practices for all students.

In addition to my teaching and research, I am committed to service within the academic community. I have served as an ad hoc reviewer for several academic journals and have participated in curriculum proposal development, such as the proposal for a new Bachelor's in Environmental Sustainability at the University of Puerto Rico. These experiences have enhanced my ability to collaborate with faculty and administration on curricular improvements and academic innovations.

As an At-Large Representative, I would advocate for thoughtful, inclusive approaches to curriculum design that consider the diverse needs of students and faculty. I am particularly passionate about promoting policies that encourage flexibility in course offerings, support innovative teaching methods, and prioritize student-centered learning outcomes. I would also aim to ensure that academic policies reflect the evolving needs of our global, digital, and diverse learning environment, while maintaining high standards of academic rigor and inclusivity.

Elizabeth Staruch

Department: Theatre and Dance

My name is Liz Staruch, and I am a faculty member in the Department of Theatre and Dance. During my tenure on CAPC, I contributed to the Undergraduate Policies Committee, the Academic Review Committee, and chaired the Program Review Committee. I also co-chaired Theatre and Dance’s reaccreditation process and previously served as co-chair of the CAH Faculty Advisory Committee, where I helped draft new mission and vision statements during the CAH reorganization.

Beyond the university, I served three terms as Regional Director with the national nonprofit, the American College Dance Association, and founded a global online arts faculty discussion group, which now includes over 3,000 members. These experiences have strengthened my dedication to faculty support and curricular development.

I would be honored to continue serving on CAPC and would sincerely appreciate your vote.
