Harry D. HoltDepartment: Public Health Sciences Thank you for reading this statement. Mentoring new faculty is critical to their success and retention for the university. When I was a new faculty member, I had a fantastic mentor who I think about often. I remember the advice that I was given and pass it on to whoever it may help. I have served as a mentor to new faculty over the last couple of years and I want to contribute even more to the committee as a representative. I want to be a voice of the faculty member who may feel disconnected or on their own in the tenure process. I appreciate your support in this important work. Innhwa ParkDepartment: Languages and Cultures I would be grateful for the opportunity to continue serving on the Faculty Mentoring Committee after completing one term as a CAH representative. During my first term, I served as chair of the adjunct faculty mentoring sub-committee. I value the role of mentoring in building connections and fostering growth for both mentors and mentees. Since arriving at WCU in 2013, mentoring relationships have helped me successfully navigate various challenges that impact faculty, ranging from pedagogical, scholarly, and service-oriented endeavors to balancing professional and personal demands. I would like to pay it forward by fostering mentoring relationships across the campus. I believe my experience as Chair of the Department Evaluation Committee would be an asset in this role. Thank you very much for your consideration. Created and copyrighted by Clifford Johnston, 2000-12 |
